      How it works

      Each picture is re-encoded right in your browser with the quality and size you picked, so the size you see is the size you get. Lower quality and a smaller longest edge both make the file smaller — a smaller edge usually saves the most for photos.

      Private by default

      Your pictures never leave your device — there is no server to send them to. Re-encoding also removes hidden metadata, including the location where a photo was taken.

      Good to know

      PNG has no quality slider because it is lossless. Animated GIFs are converted using their first frame only. iPhone HEIC photos work in Safari; other browsers may not be able to open them.
