How the randomness works

Names are shuffled with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so every name has an equal chance — and drawn names never repeat. Groups are balanced: with 23 people in 4 groups you get groups of 6, 6, 6 and 5.

Balanced teams

In Teams mode you can add a rating after any name — Alice:8 — and the teams come out with near-equal total ratings. Anyone without a rating is counted at the average of the people who have one. Team size stays even first: with 23 people in 4 teams you get 6, 6, 6 and 5, and only then are the ratings balanced. The highest-rated person in each team is marked (C) as captain.

Everything happens on your device — no server, no tracking. Your list is kept in this browser only so you don't have to paste it again next time; Clear list removes it right away.
